the part nobody else does
How Booking a Vacation Package Works Here
How booking a vacation package works here is ordinary in four of its five steps. The fifth one, where somebody tells you the odds against the trip, is the reason to use this company at all.
The step nobody else performs
Between your question and your proposal, somebody here goes and looks up what the conditions actually did in that place in that month, over as many years as there is record for, and writes the number down.
Not a season description. Not "best time to visit". A number: rain days, wind above the threshold that stops the boat, cloud cover at the hour that matters, the week the ice usually goes out. Then it goes on the page and into the proposal, whether or not it helps the sale.
Two things follow. The first is that some people book a different trip, which is the point. The second is that when the weather does win, nobody is surprised, and an unsurprised traveler is a different person to deal with than an ambushed one.
The other four steps
- You say where and whenThe easy part, and the part everybody volunteers
- We put the odds beside itBefore anything is quoted. If your month is the wrong month for what you want, that is said first rather than last
- The askingYour trip goes to operators as your trip, on your dates. Two to four working days, on their clock rather than ours
- The proposalOn paper, and it holds five things: which firm performs the trip, the days down to the date, the odds said over again, one full number for each person, and that firm's cancellation terms clipped on entire
- You agree it with themOn their system, in their name, which is what your bank statement shows. No card ever reaches this company
What each step costs you
Nowhere along the way, and that holds for the conversations that finish with you choosing a completely different country. Not the conversation, not the research, not the booking, not the fourth rebuild.
The money arrives from the operator's own margin once the trip is behind you. An expensive cabin pays this company exactly what a plain one pays, so there is nothing behind a recommendation except the recommendation.
Four things that cannot be done
- Change the odds
- Nobody can. They can be told to you honestly and that is the whole of it
- Freeze a price
- The company that quoted it can, for as long as they choose. This one cannot
- Undercut a figure you found
- Nothing here is matched against anybody else. Identical departure, identical dates, smaller number? Book that one
- Advise on documents, cover or health
- None of the three sits here, and all three are answered on the short answers page
